Which laptop brands do you support?

We repair and provide extended warranties on laptops manufactured by Apple, HP, Compaq, IBM, Toshiba, and Sony - regardless of the unit's age.

What makes you qualified to fix my laptop?

NoteFix is a division of Blue Raven Technolgy, a national computer hardware repair company now in its 20th year of operation. We have over 100 highly trained technicians who repair more than 3,000 laptop computers every month. Whatever the problem, they've seen it before and can rapidly diagnose and repair it.

I live in California. Does it really make sense to send my laptop to Boston for repair?

Yes. Most retailers outsource their repairs to other companies, so your laptop will probably be shipped anyway. With our expertise and experience, you'll have your laptop repaired properly the first time, and you won't need to ship your laptop more than once. Our unique Repair Assurance gives you a fast turnaround and the peace of mind other dealers can't match - even those who are just down the street from you.

Can I get a firm price quote before I send in my laptop?

Most laptops qualify for our One Fix, One Price program, with all the parts and labor required to repair your laptop included in a single price. If your unit doesn't qualify for that program, you fall into the Itemized Repairs rate, in which you pay for all parts used in the repair plus a flat rate of $149. Both programs include free return overnight shipping.

How do I get my laptop to you?

Just pack it securely and contact a shipping company such as UPS for a pickup. To ensure your laptop arrives safely, you may purchase a laptop transit box from NoteFix for $35. Pre-paid shipping is included with this offer.

What if my laptop is damaged during transit?

Be sure to have your shipping company insure the unit so that any damage in transit will be fully covered. In addition, NoteFix makes sure to insure your laptop when we return it to you.

How long does a repair take?

Our goal is to repair all laptops within five business days, and we usually complete most repairs more quickly. We return many laptops to their owners in 48 hours thanks to our huge parts inventory.

Can I track the progress of my laptop in the repair cycle?

Yes. Our website includes a tracking capability that tells you exactly where your computer is in the repair process and what the next step is. You can find this information when you log on to the My Account page on the site. The page connects you directly with our custom-designed customer relationship management system. Once logged in, the page shows you which department is currently working on your laptop: receiving, diagnostics and repair, testing, or shipping. To further keep you informed, we also send you emails apprising you of your laptop's status.

What does component-level repair mean?

Our expert NoteFix technicians are able to diagnose and repair parts down to the individual malfunctioning component. No laptop part is unknown to them, nor is there a laptop problem they haven't seen.

If the repair takes longer or requires more parts than expected, will I be charged more?

No. In fact, if we can't repair your laptop within five days because of problems that are within our control, we'll offer you a discount off the original repair price.

Can I upgrade my laptop while it's being serviced?

Sure. Just let us know what kind of upgrade you want, and we'll take care of it while we're doing the repair.

How does your warranty work?

All NoteFix-repaired laptops come with a 30-Day Repair Assurance Guarantee. We'll repair your laptop if there are any problems-at no charge. You also receive our 180-Day Limited Warranty, which covers defects in workmanship for any parts and labor provided to repair your computer. This warranty includes the 30-Day Repair Assurance Guarantee.

If my laptop fails within the warranty period, what should I do?

Go to Request Warranty or Extended Warranty Repairs, log in, and follow the instructions for returning your laptop to us.

Can I purchase an extended warranty?

Yes. When you purchase our repair service, you may also buy an extended warranty for either 1 or 2 years. You may also purchase an extended warranty for a laptop we have not repaired. In this case, we charge an additional $50 inspection fee.

What if I send my laptop to you, then I decide to ask for it back unrepaired?

If you decide not to proceed with the repair, we'll return your laptop to you in the same condition as we received it. You'll be charged the flat rate of $149, which includes return overnight shipping.

I think I can fix my laptop myself. Will you sell me the part(s)?
